【姚瑞宸／綜合報導】國聯分區季後賽，海盜vs.紅雀第5戰，兩隊戰完前6局，紅雀靠第7棒佛瑞斯(David Freese)在第2局轟出的2分全壘打，暫以2比0領先。
紅雀隊先發投手溫萊特(Adam Wainwright)前6局 69球，只被擊出2支安打0失分。
海盜隊先發投手柯爾(Gerrit Cole)投5局也只被擊出3支零星安打，飆出5次三振，唯一敗筆是在第2局2出局後投出保送，一記低角度滑球被佛瑞擊出全壘打。
海盜隊在第6局第8棒巴恩斯(Clint Barmes)擊出全隊第2支安打後，換瓊斯(Garrett Jones)代柯爾上場打擊。
6局上，海盜威爾森(Justin Wilson)中繼登板，1出局後被哈樂戴(Matt Holliday(擊出安打，再投出保送，一二壘有人狀況下，被傑伊(Jon Jay)擊出中外野安打，讓海盜丟失第3分，海盜緊急喊停，換第3任投手馬薩洛(Vin Mazzaro)登板，三振佛瑞斯避免失分擴大。
