面臨BMW以及M-BENZ大舉入侵都會車款，AUDI除了轉向多人座A3 MPV車型來開發外，現階段既有的產品也穩扎穩打持續研發新世代車型。現行款第四代A4發表於2008年的日內瓦車展上，即便現今車輛外型設計仍具水準，但也進入改朝換代的階段了。因此，早在2012年8月時就陸續出現第五代A4的一些相關訊息。
